How payment plans work:
When you register, you'll pay the first instalment. The remaining three instalments are automatically charged to your card every fortnight. No additional fees or interest. If financial circumstances change during your course, contact us. We'll work with you.
You've registered, what's next?
Check your inbox, you'll receive an immediate email confirmation of registration with:
- Course details
- Schedule
- Questionnaire including a brief description of your pain condition (helps teachers prepare appropriately) and any accessibility requirements or adaptations you need
- Contact information if questions arise
Closer to the course date you'll receive an email with:
- Zoom link (for online programs) or venue details (for in-person)
- What to expect next (pre-program questionnaire arrives 2 weeks before start)
Refunds & cancellation policy
OpenGround's programs are built around genuine commitment - yours to the program and the practice, and ours to you. When you register, your place is held and costs are committed: teacher preparation, materials, catering, and in the case of retreats, venue fees that are locked in well in advance. Our cancellation terms reflect that reality, while leaving room for the unexpected turns that life sometimes takes.
Our refund policy for multi-week courses (2-8 weeks):
- If you cancel before the first session, you'll receive a full refund less a $50 administration fee (plus a $50 fee if you have already had your pre-course interview with your teacher).
- If you cancel within 5 days after the first session (before session 2) you can transfer to a future course or you can opt for a 50% refund.
- After Session 2 there is no automatic refund, though you may transfer to a future course date at a 50% discounted rate for the next course.

Frequently asked questions
What if the course I want is full?
Join the waitlist - we often add additional course dates if demand is strong, and occasionally spots become available from cancellations. You'll be notified immediately if a space opens.
Can I transfer to a different course date after registering?
Yes, if you need to change dates due to illness, work commitments, or other circumstances, contact us. We'll transfer you to the next available course with no additional fee (subject to space availability).
What if I register but my pain worsens and I can't participate?
Contact us immediately. We can either transfer you to a later course when you're able to participate, or process a refund according to our refund policy.
Is this program covered by private health insurance?
Some Australian health funds provide rebates for MBSR programs under their "Chronic Disease Management" or "Allied Health" provisions. Check with your insurer. We provide detailed receipts for claiming purposes.
Can I claim this through NDIS or other government programs?
NDIS funding depends on your individual plan and how your plan manager interprets eligible supports. We provide all documentation needed for claims, but approval is determined by your plan. Some participants have successfully claimed; others haven't. Worth investigating if you have NDIS funding.
What if I'm not sure I can commit to eight weeks?
The program requires genuine commitment - benefits come from consistent attendance and practice. However, life circumstances change. If you need to withdraw, our refund policy applies. We'd rather you register with honest intention than not try because you're worried about perfect attendance.
I live regionally/interstate - can I join online courses?
Absolutely. Online courses are designed for participants anywhere in Australia (or internationally, though session times are Australian Eastern time). All you need is reliable internet connection and a device with camera/microphone.
